I am also the founder of People’s Community Fitness Center (PCFCinc.org) this is a non-profit organization that I started in 2001 attempting to bring the first Health and Wellness Center to the City of Camden N.J. Being a small organization with not a lot monies it’s been really hard for people to take you serious when you tell them your goals of bringing something to one of the poorest Cities in the United States. I have had a lot of doors closed in my face but I am still here years later continuing the fight to bring this needed Health and Wellness Center to my city. I always explain to the non believer that this is much bigger than just me this is a mission that was placed on my shoulder by God and that’s why I am still here doing what I do which is educating young and old on the importance of living a fit and healthy life style.

I have joined forces with Channel19, the Camden City School Board Station to create a Health and Fitness show named “Body by Design”. I have also started broad casting a radio show with the same name on Mega Radio 1310am every Saturday morning from 7:30am to 8:30am. The shows are designed to bring important Health and Wellness programming to the residents of Camden and surrounding communities. The shows will teach people the importance of eating quality food, fitness routines, proper health care and vitamins and minerals nutrition. We plan to offer the T.V show to all of the school board channels in the South Jersey area and beyond and we also have just acquired the website www.rickgaines.com this will allow people to view the shows.

My name is Rick Gaines, and I have been in the fitness industry for the past seventeen years. It has been my goal to create the perfect environment for my clients to learn proper training techniques and also achieve their fitness goals. Body Designers is named after my store that was established seventeen years ago. Body Designers health and fitness store was started in August of 1993 in a small storefront in Camden New Jersey, selling supplements and fitness equipment. The slogan of the store, “for a body you can be proud of inside and out”, was the reasoning behind my goal. The goal of my first store was to teach the customers about the importance of caring for the inside of their bodies by eating healthy foods and taking quality supplements. Taking care of the outer body with regular exercise was also emphasized as being just as important. After being in business for over seventeen years, I can truly say that the store reached the goal set in 1993 of helping hundreds of people improve their health and fitness levels.
